CHEROKEE COUNTY, Kan. (KOAM/KJFX) — Two teenagers died in a single-vehicle crash on SE 110th Street near Turkey Creek Road around 5:45 p.m. on October 15, 2026.
The Kansas Highway Patrol is investigating the incident involving a 1996 Mercury Grand Marquis. Both occupants, identified as Cameron Witham, 19, of Webb City, Missouri, and Audrey Witham, 18, of Joplin, Missouri, were pronounced dead at the scene. Derfelt’s Funeral Home responded to recover the remains.
According to KHP, the vehicle was traveling northbound on SE 110th Street when it struck the right side of the Spring River Bridge, skidded off the roadway, and collided with a tree. Beans Towing arrived to remove the vehicle and debris from the location.
The crash remains under investigation, and details regarding any potential lane closures or further emergency response have not been released. Authorities did not provide information regarding the cause of the crash.
