Crash on I-55 Claims Life of 25-Year-Old in Braidwood
BRAIDWOOD, IL — A collision involving a commercial vehicle and a motorcycle on Interstate 55 resulted in one fatality Saturday morning, April 11, 2026, around 11:30 a.m.
According to the Illinois State Police, the crash occurred in the northbound lanes south of Reed Road. Fernando Rodriguez, 25, of Normal, Illinois, was pronounced dead at 12:11 p.m. at St. Joseph’s Medical Center in Joliet.
One individual was transported to a hospital with injuries; however, no further details on their condition have been released. The Will County Coroner’s Office confirmed Rodriguez’s identity, and an autopsy was performed the following day.
I-55 northbound was closed for several hours during the response and investigation. Authorities are currently conducting inquiries into the incident, with final cause and manner to be determined pending autopsy and toxicology reports.
