Vandal Destroys Memorial Site for Victim of Fatal Crash.

Lincoln Memorial Vandalized, Family Devastated

A memorial honoring Blaine Henderson, a Lincoln man killed in a motorcycle accident, was vandalized Thursday night at 10th and High streets.

Authorities confirmed the destruction of the memorial, which had stood for five months. Brenda Uhing, Henderson’s mother, reported receiving security footage documenting the incident. The footage captured a figure approaching the memorial and dismantling it around 10 p.m., while cars passed by without intervening.

Henderson was fatally injured in a collision with a drunk driver on March 4. The memorial featured flowers, posters, and crosses, which were left scattered on the ground after the vandalism. “This was a place for friends and family to remember him,” Uhing stated.

Jamie Barrett, a friend of Uhing’s who also lost her son in a motorcycle accident, visited the site the next day to assist in cleaning. “It’s painful that someone would do something like that,” Barrett said.

Local businesses near the intersection expressed interest in installing security cameras to deter future incidents and enhance safety at the frequently dangerous location. Uhing hopes for a stop sign or traffic signal at the intersection to prevent future tragedies.

No suspects have been identified, and an investigation into the vandalism is ongoing.
