Vermont police responded to two fatal crashes over the Labor Day weekend, resulting in one death in Middlesex and another in Starksboro.
Fatal Crash in Middlesex
On September 4 at approximately 9 p.m., Ryan Booska, 40, of Moretown, died in a single-vehicle crash on Route 100B. Investigators with the Vermont State Police reported that Booska failed to negotiate a left turn, resulting in his vehicle leaving the roadway, striking a tree, and coming to rest in a residential driveway. He was pronounced dead at the scene, and speed is considered a contributing factor; Booska was not believed to be wearing a seat belt.
Motorcycle Crash in Starksboro
On September 5 around 5:15 p.m., George Hallock, 38, of Waltham, was pronounced dead following a collision between his motorcycle and a car on Route 17. According to authorities, Hallock was traveling east when a vehicle, driven by 21-year-old Calvin Morse of Charlotte, attempted a left turn across his lane. Hallock was ejected from his motorcycle upon impact and transported to the University of Vermont Medical Center. Authorities reported indicators of drug impairment during questioning of Morse, who was arrested and provided a blood sample; results have not yet been announced. He is scheduled to appear in Addison County Superior Court at a later date.
