A 52-year-old man died from injuries sustained in a July 15 motorcycle crash at the Zoo Interchange, according to the Milwaukee County Medical Examiner’s Office.
Michael J. Peterson, of Lomira, passed away on July 17 at Froedtert Hospital. The medical examiner’s report indicated the cause of death was an accident.
Details of the Motorcycle Crash
At approximately 7 p.m. on July 15, Peterson lost control of his motorcycle while navigating the Zoo Interchange. The precise cause of the loss of control remains under investigation.
The Milwaukee County Sheriff’s Office reviewed video footage indicating Peterson and his female passenger struck a wall, resulting in both riders being thrown from the motorcycle. No other vehicles were involved in the incident.
Both individuals were transported to Froedtert Hospital with serious injuries. Peterson suffered multiple fractures, pulmonary contusions, internal bleeding, and a subdural hematoma. He underwent surgery and was later declared brain dead on July 17. His family consented to organ donation.
