Woman Dies and Five Children Injured in Rural Minnesota Collision.

Milan, MN – A woman died and five children sustained injuries in a two-vehicle crash in Chippewa County on Monday evening.

The collision occurred at approximately 6:45 p.m. at the intersection of Hwy. 59 and Chippewa County Rd. 32, about 45 miles west of Willmar, according to the Minnesota State Patrol. A pickup truck traveling southbound on Hwy. 59 collided with an SUV heading north on County Rd. 32.

The driver of the SUV, a 47-year-old woman from Milan, was pronounced dead at the scene. Her identity has not yet been released. The State Patrol reported that three girls, ages 7, 8, and 13, and two boys, ages 7 and 10, were passengers in the SUV. All five were transported to nearby hospitals with non-life-threatening injuries. Notably, the 7-year-old girl, 8-year-old girl, and 10-year-old boy were not wearing seatbelts at the time of the crash.

The pickup truck was driven by 22-year-old Isaac Alfred Greenhagen of Maple Lake, who was uninjured but taken to a hospital for evaluation. A passenger in the pickup, 37-year-old Dairi Cortezdacosta, suffered non-life-threatening injuries and was also hospitalized.

Emergency responders from local agencies assisted at the scene, and the State Patrol is conducting an investigation. Additional details are expected to be released on Friday.
