KOOSKIA, ID — A Colorado woman has been charged with three counts of felony vehicular manslaughter following a fatal collision involving motorcyclists on U.S. Highway 12 on June 16.
Neale P. Brewer, 60, of Colorado Springs, was arrested and booked into the Idaho County Jail after an initial medical evaluation. She appeared in Idaho County Magistrate Court on June 17 and is scheduled for a preliminary hearing on June 25.
According to Idaho State Police, the incident occurred around 4 p.m. near milepost 113, approximately 16 miles east of Lowell. Brewer’s 2019 Ford F-150, traveling westbound, attempted to pass another vehicle in a designated no-passing zone, crossing into oncoming traffic and colliding with three eastbound motorcycles.
The collision resulted in the deaths of three motorcyclists: Ethan Powers, 35, of Timnath, Jeremy Coleman, 45, of Berthoud, and Nathan McCormick, 26, of Loveland. All victims died at the scene, and their families have been notified, according to Idaho County Coroner Cody Funke.
U.S. Highway 12 was closed for approximately 6.5 hours as emergency responders, including the Idaho County Sheriff’s Office and local fire and EMS personnel, attended to the scene and conducted an investigation, which remains ongoing.
