Wyoming County mine accident claims life of identified miner.

CYCLONE, W.Va. (WDTV) – A miner died in an accident at the Lower War Eagle mine in Wyoming County on Thursday morning.

Robert White, 63, was pinned by a tractor, according to a preliminary report from the Mine Safety and Health Administration (MSHA).

White had over 40 years of mining experience, with more than a decade at the Lower War Eagle mine, owned by Coronado Coal.

The West Virginia Office of Miners’ Health, Safety and Training is investigating the incident and has confirmed they are analyzing the circumstances surrounding the accident.

Governor Morrisey expressed condolences, stating, “Our hearts go out to his family, loved ones, and coworkers during this sorrowful time.” He emphasized the challenges faced by miners daily while calling for prayers for the victim’s community.

Additional details about the accident have not been released.
