The incident occurred near mile marker 123, approximately 20 miles east of Rock Springs, according to the Wyoming Highway Patrol. Authorities reported that 55-year-old Del Rhoades was riding east on a Harley-Davidson when he lost control and crossed into the median.
Investigators noted that the motorcycle then struck a delineator post before colliding with the cable barrier. Rhoades, who was wearing a helmet at the time, did not survive the accident.
Preliminary reports indicate driver fatigue and a possible medical condition as contributing factors to the crash.
