A high-speed motorcycle crash in the Riverdale section of the Bronx early Thursday resulted in the death of a 45-year-old Yonkers man, according to the NYPD.
Douglas L. Smith was riding a 2007 Honda motorcycle at approximately 1 a.m. when he collided with a 2018 Subaru Outback near Broadway and West 261st Street. Authorities reported that the impact ejected Smith from the motorcycle and onto the pavement.
Emergency responders arrived on the scene and found Smith suffering from major trauma. He was transported to Saint Barnabas Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
According to investigators, a 30-year-old man was driving the Subaru at the time of the incident. He remained at the scene following the collision.
Footage from the Citizen app showed the intersection blocked off with debris scattered across the road.
Authorities said no charges had been filed as of Thursday evening, and the investigation into the crash is ongoing.
