Woodbury, MN – A teenager sustained critical injuries in a motorcycle crash involving multiple vehicles on Interstate 94 on Wednesday afternoon.
The Minnesota State Patrol reported that the incident occurred shortly after 4 p.m. near the Woodbury Drive exit, involving a Kia SUV, a Hyundai SUV, and another vehicle.
According to authorities, traffic had stopped when the motorcycle and Hyundai swerved left to avoid a collision. The motorcycle attempted to lane split but struck the Hyundai before falling and being hit by the Kia and the third vehicle, as per the state crash report.
Teen Motorcyclist Injured
16-year-old Destin Louis Kirchoff Campbell of Pierce was the motorcycle operator. He was transported to Regions Hospital in St. Paul with non-life-threatening injuries, as confirmed by the State Patrol.
Involved Drivers Unharmed
34-year-old Angela Christine Hermanson of North St. Paul drove the Hyundai, while 19-year-old Amelia Rose Hoikka from Pierce, WI, was behind the wheel of the Kia. The third vehicle was driven by 66-year-old Glenn Allen Guertin of Wyoming, MN. All three drivers and three passengers, including young children, reported no injuries.
Authorities confirmed that alcohol was not a factor in the crash. Campbell was wearing a helmet, and all motorists were buckled up, according to the state crash report.
Investigations are ongoing, and lane closures were in effect following the incident.
