An 18-year-old motorcyclist was killed early Saturday in a collision on Interstate 20 near Bowman Springs Road in Arlington, according to police.
Officers were dispatched to the scene around 1 a.m., where they found the motorcyclist, later identified as Landon Corbia Murphy, lying on the shoulder of the highway. He was transported to a local hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries.
Preliminary investigations indicate that Murphy rear-ended a Honda Civic, resulting in him being thrown from his motorcycle. The impact caused the Civic to collide with construction barriers. The driver of the Civic sustained non-life-threatening injuries and was also taken to the hospital.
Police believe speed may have been a factor in the crash. The investigation is ongoing, and no further details have been released at this time.
This incident has prompted lane closures on the affected section of the highway as emergency crews clear the scene.
