Motorcyclist Killed in Crash on Buckman Bridge
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — A 19-year-old motorcyclist from Yulee died following a collision on the Buckman Bridge on Sunday evening, according to the Florida Highway Patrol (FHP).
The incident occurred at approximately 6:30 p.m. when the woman was riding in the left center southbound lane of I-295. Her motorcycle struck the rear of an SUV, leading to her being thrown to the ground. Emergency responders transported her to a hospital, where she later succumbed to her injuries.
The driver of the SUV sustained minor injuries, FHP reported.
Emergency response resulted in multiple lane closures on the bridge. Two southbound lanes were already blocked due to a Florida Department of Transportation project, which involves intermittent weekend closures.
The crash remains under investigation by authorities.
