LINN COUNTY, Ore. — A motorcycle crash on Highway 226 resulted in one fatality on July 31 at approximately 9:41 p.m.
According to the Oregon State Police, the incident occurred near milepost 11 when a westbound Ford F350 pickup, driven by 77-year-old Arthur Vernon Roberts of Lebanon, turned south onto Richardson Gap Road. Roberts turned into the path of an eastbound Harley Davidson motorcycle operated by 29-year-old Tanner Kolten Henderson of Gates.
The motorcycle struck the pickup truck’s front end, causing both Henderson and the motorcycle to land in a ditch. The pickup truck remained in the roadway, blocking the intersection. Henderson was pronounced dead at the scene; Roberts did not sustain injuries and remained at the location to assist authorities.
Authorities said the highway was closed for approximately two hours during the investigation. The crash is under investigation by the Oregon State Police.
