Motorcycle crash in Tifton leaves one dead as GSP investigates.

TIFTON, Ga. (WALB) – A motorcycle crash in Tift County on Tuesday evening resulted in one fatality, according to Georgia State Patrol (GSP).

At around 6:41 p.m., GSP troopers responded to the incident involving a Ford SUV and a motorcycle on GA 7.

Authorities said the SUV, exiting a business, failed to yield as the motorcycle was traveling northbound on GA 7, leading to a collision with the driver side door of the SUV.

The driver of the SUV was taken to Tift Regional Medical Center for treatment of injuries, while the motorcycle rider, identified as 27-year-old Matthew Tyler Barber, was pronounced dead at the scene, per Tift County Coroner Josh Hendrix.

Northbound and southbound lanes of GA 7 were closed for approximately two hours due to the incident.

The Georgia State Patrol’s Specialized Collision Reconstruction Team is handling the investigation, and charges are pending.
