All lanes on the Glenn Highway near Eklutna reopened around 6 p.m. on Thursday following multiple vehicle collisions, according to Anchorage Police.
At least three accidents occurred on the outbound highway, with emergency crews dispatched shortly after 4:45 p.m. Chugiak Fire Chief Clifton Dalton confirmed four vehicles were involved in the first crash, resulting in only minor injuries.
A subsequent incident involving a motorcycle occurred shortly after, with the rider transported to a hospital via LifeMed helicopter due to serious injuries. All outbound lanes were closed for approximately 20 minutes to facilitate the medevac, Dalton said.
A single lane was reopened for traffic after the helicopter operation, but delays continued as responders dealt with other incidents. Firefighters attended a third collision around 5:30 p.m.; details of that crash remain unavailable.
Authorities reported significant delays on the Glenn Highway and advised drivers to expect continued slow traffic.
