A 21-year-old man died following a motorcycle crash into a tree in Centerville on Sunday, July 5, at 5:07 p.m.
According to Centerville Police, Gavin Sheets was traveling northbound in a parking lot near 5770 Wilmington Pike at a high rate of speed when he lost control. His motorcycle struck a curb, traveled through bushes, and collided with a tree.
Sheets was pronounced dead at the scene. Witnesses reported the crash, with one stating that a man was lying on the ground and in critical condition.
Authorities said speed is believed to be a contributing factor in the incident. The Tactical Crime Suppression Unit and Sugarcreek Township Fire Department also responded to the scene.
The investigation is ongoing.
