COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (KKTV) – A fatal motorcycle crash occurred on I-25 late Thursday night, prompting lane closures for several hours.
According to Colorado Springs police, the incident was reported at approximately 10:45 p.m. between Cimarron Street and Tejon Street.
Preliminary investigations indicate a motorcycle traveling northbound failed to navigate a curve, striking the center median and crossing into the southbound lanes.
Authorities confirmed the motorcyclist was pronounced dead at the scene.
By 11 p.m., police reported all southbound lanes of I-25 and two of three northbound lanes were closed as detectives processed the scene.
Detours were established at W Cimarron St, and motorists were advised to seek alternate routes, as noted by CSPD Communications on social media.
As of approximately 4:30 a.m., all lanes were reopened. Authorities stated that speed is being investigated as a potential factor in the crash.
