MALHEUR COUNTY, Ore. — A motorcyclist died Saturday following a collision with a semi-truck on Highway 20.
According to Oregon State Police (OSP), 67-year-old John Platt was riding his Harley-Davidson motorcycle when he attempted to pass a Peterbilt semi-truck turning left near milepost 255 around 10:30 a.m.
Platt was pronounced dead at the scene. His passenger, 70-year-old Yolanda Platt, sustained serious injuries and was transported to a local hospital.
The truck’s driver, 24-year-old Victor Pena-Olvera, was reported unharmed.
Authorities closed the highway for approximately two hours to conduct their investigation.
