KNOXVILLE, Tenn. — A motorcycle crash on Kingston Pike claimed the life of a 22-year-old man on Tuesday at 1:33 p.m., according to the Tennessee Highway Patrol.
Authorities identified the victim as Austin D. Sanford, who was traveling westbound when he collided with an Audi SUV attempting to make a left turn. The SUV, driven by a 68-year-old, was traveling east at the time of the incident.
THP reports that Sanford moved into the right lane to pass another vehicle before swerving back into the left lane, where the collision occurred. He was found with “uncontrolled rest at the point of impact.”
The driver of the Audi sustained injuries; however, details regarding their condition were not released. Emergency medical services attended the scene, and lane closures were in effect while the incident was investigated.
