Cozad, NE – A fatal motorcycle accident on Interstate 80 claimed the life of a Wyoming man late Sunday night, May 18.
Around 11:20 p.m., the Nebraska State Patrol and Dawson County Sheriff’s Office responded to the crash approximately four miles east of Cozad. According to authorities, weather conditions, including heavy rainfall and strong winds, may have contributed to the incident.
A preliminary investigation revealed that the 62-year-old motorcyclist, identified as Michael Schutt of Sheridan, Wyoming, lost control of his motorcycle while traveling eastbound. Shortly after, an eastbound semi-truck struck the motorcycle.
Schutt was pronounced dead at the scene. The investigation into the accident is ongoing, and further details will be released as they become available.
