Motorcycle Crash Leads to Injury and Pursuit in Codington County
WATERTOWN, SD—A motorcycle crash on November 5 at 9:44 p.m. resulted in injuries and a police pursuit near Hwy 81 and 20th Ave S.
According to authorities, the driver, who was intoxicated and reportedly traveling in the oncoming lane, attempted to flee the scene after the crash. Codington County Deputies activated emergency lights in an effort to stop the motorcycle, which sped away.
During the pursuit, deputies observed the motorcycle crash again at Meadow Lake Rd and 457th Ave. Upon arrival, deputies provided life-saving measures to the rider, who was subsequently transported to Prairie Lakes Hospital.
Charges are pending, and the investigation is ongoing. Assisting agencies included the South Dakota Highway Patrol, Watertown Police Department, and Watertown Fire Rescue and Ambulance.
