New Castle, DE—A fatal motorcycle crash occurred on July 11, 2022, at approximately 8:39 p.m. on Christiana Road (Route 273) near Prangs Lane.
According to authorities, a 2017 Chrysler Pacifica was traveling westbound when it attempted to turn left onto Prangs Lane. At the same time, a 2020 Kawasaki ZX6 motorcycle was traveling eastbound at a high rate of speed and collided with the Chrysler’s right side.
The motorcycle operator, a 36-year-old male from Newark, DE, was ejected and pronounced dead at the scene. Identification is pending notification of next of kin. The 47-year-old female driver of the Chrysler, also from New Castle, sustained serious injuries and was transported to a local hospital.
Two passengers in the Chrysler—a 69-year-old female from Sun City, FL, and a 16-year-old female from New Castle—were pronounced dead at the scene and in the hospital, respectively. Their identities are pending notification of next of kin.
Route 273 was closed in both directions for approximately four hours while the scene was investigated and cleared. The investigation is ongoing by the Delaware State Police Collision Reconstruction Unit.
