Dirt bike rider, 24, fatally involved in Monroe County crash at Ross and Travelers Rest roads.

A collision between a vehicle and a dirt bike resulted in a fatality in Macon County on Friday.

According to Coroner Eddie Hosley, the accident occurred at around 1:39 p.m. at the intersection of Ross Road and Travelers Rest Road in Montezuma.

Georgia State Patrol (GSP) reported that a green dirt bike was traveling north on Travelers Rest Road as a Kia Optima approached the intersection from the east on Ross Road.

The Kia, having stopped at the stop sign, attempted a right turn onto Travelers Rest Road when the dirt bike crossed into the oncoming lane and collided with the Kia’s left front bumper.

GSP confirmed that the rider was ejected from the bike and was pronounced dead at the scene.

The deceased operator has been identified as 24-year-old Marquez Collier of Montezuma.

Monteuma Police Chief Eric Finch expressed condolences for the loss, requesting prayers for the family. He noted that the investigation by the Montezuma Police Department and GSP is ongoing, with appreciation extended to the Macon County Coroner’s Office and Oglethorpe Police Department for their support.
