HURON TOWNSHIP — A 56-year-old man from Wisconsin was killed in a motorcycle crash Tuesday night on U.S. Route 250.
The incident occurred at 10:10 p.m. near Fox Road in Huron Township, Erie County, according to the Ohio State Highway Patrol (OSHP). Richard Hartnell, of Kenosha, suffered fatal injuries at the scene.
Authorities reported that Hartnell was crossing U.S. Route 250 when he was struck by a northbound Harley Davidson motorcycle operated by 66-year-old James Ritzenthaler of Fremont. Hartnell was subsequently hit by a Toyota RAV4 driven by 35-year-old Andre Luckie of Norwalk.
Ritzenthaler sustained minor injuries and was treated on scene, while Luckie reported no injuries.
Emergency responders included the OSHP, Erie County Sheriff’s Office, Perkins Township Police Department, Huron Fire Department, and the Erie County Coroner’s Office, as well as Wilsons Towing and Repair.
The crash is under investigation by the OSHP.
