A woman was killed and a man injured in a motorcycle crash late Saturday night in Chariton County near the Chariton River bridge, according to the Missouri State Highway Patrol.
The incident occurred at 11:20 p.m. on May 16 on Highway 24, approximately three miles east of Keytesville. Authorities reported that a 2011 Harley-Davidson motorcycle was traveling eastbound when it ran off the roadway, resulting in both riders being ejected.
A 43-year-old woman from Keytesville was pronounced dead at the scene at 12:19 a.m. on May 17 by Chariton County Deputy Coroner Lisa Benner. The driver, a 47-year-old man from Brookfield, was airlifted to University Hospital in Columbia for treatment of his injuries.
The motorcycle was deemed totaled and towed by Skins Auto Body of Salisbury. Emergency response agencies included the Chariton County Sheriff’s Department, Chariton County Ambulance, Salisbury First Responders, and the Keytesville Fire Department. An investigation into the crash is ongoing.
