MAN KILLED IN MOTORCYCLE WRECK

A Weatherford man died following a motorcycle accident on Farm Road 920 near Private Road 3738 north of Boonsville on Monday at approximately 6:30 a.m.

Emergency crews responded to the scene after a passerby reported the incident. The rider, identified as Shaun Allan Waits, 56, was pronounced dead at the scene by Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) troopers.

Preliminary investigations indicate Waits was traveling south at an unsafe speed and failed to negotiate a curve, causing the motorcycle to leave the roadway. He was not wearing a helmet. The crash’s official time remains under investigation. Wise County EMS and Wise County ESD No. 2 assisted at the scene.

1 HURT IN BULLRIDING ACCIDENT

An Azle bullfighter was hospitalized after sustaining serious injuries in a bullriding accident on Sunday in Decatur.

Authorities reported the incident occurred around 3 p.m. at Wise County Cowboy Church on Old Denton Highway. The bullfighter, Austen Malone, was injured while protecting a fallen rider from a charging bull.

Malone was transported by Air Evac Lifeteam 68 to Medical City Denton and is currently listed in stable condition after suffering broken bones and a head injury.

WOMAN ARRESTED AFTER VEHICLE PURSUIT

A woman was arrested Sunday night following a police pursuit that ended east of the Wise County line on U.S. 380.

According to the Wise County Sheriff’s Office, the pursuit started on Texas 114 after an officer noticed a moving violation. The driver, Patricia Marie Holmes, 37, of Boyd, reached speeds of approximately 110 mph and failed to yield until stopping near Farm Road 2622.

Holmes was charged with evading arrest or detention with a vehicle and remains in custody with a bond set at $15,000.

DECATUR HOUSE FIRE

Multiple fire departments responded to a structure fire northeast of Decatur on Sunday evening.

The fire was reported shortly before 7 p.m. at a single-story home on County Road 2360, originating in the garage and spreading to the kitchen. Firefighters from several departments controlled the blaze by around 8 p.m.

Two dogs perished in the fire, but no human injuries were reported.
