Acadiana Woman Killed in Bicycle Crash on US Highway 190
WEST BATON ROUGE, LA — A 34-year-old woman from Rayne was pronounced dead following a bicycle accident on US Highway 190 early Saturday morning, according to Louisiana State Police.
Authorities said the crash occurred around 2:00 a.m. near Grand Bayou Road. Preliminary reports indicate the bicyclist, Erin Constantine, was traveling westbound on the highway and was wearing dark clothing without lights on her bicycle when she was struck by a vehicle headed in the same direction.
Constantine was declared dead at the scene by the coroner’s office. The driver of the vehicle, who was wearing a seatbelt, did not sustain any injuries, authorities reported. The cause of the collision remains under investigation, with toxicology samples taken for analysis.
