Ada Motorcyclist Fatally Injured in Mercer County Crash Sunday Night.

MERCER COUNTY, Ohio (WLIO) — A fatal motorcycle crash occurred on U.S. Route 127 at State Route 274 on August 31 at approximately 5:30 p.m.

According to the Mercer County Sheriff’s Office, 45-year-old Timothy Betts of Ada was critically injured when he collided with a pickup truck while attempting to pass vehicles in a no-passing zone. Betts was ejected from his 2016 Harley Davidson and was not wearing a helmet. He was transported to Mercer Health in Coldwater, where he was pronounced dead.

Authorities identified the other driver as 70-year-old Roger Brockman of Coldwater, who was turning east onto State Route 274 at the time of the incident, driving a 2010 Ford truck.

Emergency personnel, including the Chickasaw Fire Department, St. Henry Squad, and Mercer County Emergency Response Volunteers (MCERV), assisted at the scene. The crash investigation is ongoing and will be reviewed by the Mercer County Prosecutor’s Office.

This incident marks the fourth fatal crash in Mercer County in 2025.
