(KNSI) – A Monticello man died Tuesday morning after a fishing boat capsized on the Mississippi River near the Xcel Energy Monticello Nuclear Generating Power Plant.
Authorities said the incident occurred around 10:30 a.m. when three men were thrown into the water. The Wright County Sheriff’s Office confirmed that Xcel staff pulled 28-year-old Tyler Tasche from the river. First responders attempted CPR and other life-saving measures, but Tasche was pronounced dead at the scene.
Two other anglers, Mark Tasche, 66, and Tristan Tasche, 18, both of Monticello, reached shore safely.
Tyler Tasche leaves behind a wife, Gaby, and four children. An online fundraiser has been established to assist the family with funeral expenses.
The investigation into the incident is ongoing.
