Bystanders come to the aid of injured motorcyclist following Colorado Springs crash, according to CSPD.

(COLORADO SPRINGS) — A motorcyclist sustained serious, life-threatening injuries in a crash involving an RV on East Platte Avenue on Sunday, July 12.

Emergency responders were dispatched to the 2200 block of East Platte Avenue at approximately 3 p.m. after reports of a collision between a motorcycle and an RV towing a trailer.

According to the Colorado Springs Police Department (CSPD), the motorcycle was traveling eastbound on Platte Avenue when the RV slowed down to make a right turn into a parking lot. The motorcyclist was unable to stop in time and collided with the back of the trailer.

Bystanders assisted in providing aid to the injured motorcyclist, who had been ejected from the bike. The rider was subsequently transported to a local hospital.

The CSPD’s Major Crash Team is handling the investigation. Authorities stated that drugs, alcohol, and speed are not currently being examined as factors in the crash.

Police confirmed that the motorcyclist was wearing a helmet during the incident.
