Christopher Tapia Killed in Riverside Motorcycle Crash, CHP Reports.

RIVERSIDE, CA, (June 9, 2026) – A motorcycle accident on Van Buren Boulevard resulted in one fatality after a suspected DUI driver rear-ended the vehicle, authorities said.

The collision occurred at approximately 8:40 p.m. at the intersection of Van Buren Boulevard and Porter Avenue. A 2017 Nissan Sentra struck a Harley-Davidson motorcycle that was stopped at a red light, pushing it into a 2004 Chevrolet Tahoe. The rider, identified as 39-year-old Christopher Tapia, was pronounced dead at the scene by paramedics.

The driver of the Nissan was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence (DUI). The California Highway Patrol is investigating the incident. Anyone with information is encouraged to contact the CHP.

The roadway was partially closed following the incident as emergency responders attended to the scene and initiated their investigation.

Authorities emphasize the dangers of impaired driving, noting that it is a significant contributor to fatal accidents. Further updates regarding the investigation will be provided as they become available.
