A 30-year-old man from Columbia was seriously injured in a sport bike crash in Boone County Thursday afternoon.
At 2:50 p.m., the man was riding a 2003 Yamaha YZF-R1 southbound near 3550 Route M when he lost control, causing the bike to overturn and eject him. The motorcycle traveled off the left side of the roadway and sustained extensive damage.
Authorities reported that the man was wearing a helmet at the time of the crash. He was transported to University Hospital by MU Health Care EMS for treatment.
No other vehicles were involved in the incident. There were no confirmed fatalities. The Missouri State Highway Patrol is handling the investigation.
