CUSTER, S.D. (KOTA) – A 63-year-old man from Connecticut died in a motorcycle crash on U.S. Highway 16A near Custer on Monday.
According to the South Dakota Highway Patrol, Robert Thomas Ryan of Durham was riding a 2002 Yamaha Super Hawk westbound when his motorcycle left the roadway approximately four miles east of Custer.
The motorcycle entered the ditch and overturned, throwing Ryan from the bike. He suffered fatal injuries despite wearing a helmet.
Emergency responders were dispatched to the scene, and Ryan was pronounced dead shortly after the accident. The crash is under investigation, and further information is expected to be released.
