A 19-year-old Franklin Township man died following a crash involving an electric motorcycle on Route 27 Saturday afternoon.
Authorities identified the victim as Karrar F. Alogaili. The vehicle he was riding was confirmed as an electric motorcycle, differing from earlier reports labeling it an e-bike. A follow-up investigation by the Franklin Township Police Department’s Traffic Safety Bureau found that the motorcycle did not meet New Jersey’s definition of a low-speed electric bicycle.
The collision occurred around 1:30 p.m. at the intersection of Route 27 and South Middlebush Road. Police reported that Alogaili was traveling southbound on Route 27 when he collided with a vehicle making a left turn from northbound Route 27 onto South Middlebush Road.
Alogaili sustained serious injuries and was transported to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
The investigation is ongoing, and further details will be released as they become available.
