SARASOTA, Fla. — A motorcycle accident on US-41 near Bayshore Drive left one motorcyclist dead Sunday at approximately 10:30 a.m.
According to the Florida Highway Patrol, both the motorcycle and a car were traveling south on US-41 when the car attempted a left turn from the right lane, colliding with the motorcycle.
The motorcyclist sustained fatal injuries in the crash. Emergency responders were on the scene, and the accident resulted in lane closures for approximately three hours while the investigation was conducted.
Authorities noted that accidents like this can increase during peak tourist seasons, attributing the rise to heavier traffic and more inexperienced drivers.
