A fatal crash near Wilmington resulted in an arrest for vehicular homicide on Nov. 15, according to Delaware State Police.
A Lexus ES 350 collided with the rear of a tractor trailer on North Dupont Highway, near Christiana Road, around 1 a.m. The impact caused the Lexus to spin out, slide over the concrete median, and hit a traffic sign.
The vehicle contained two occupants. A 36-year-old passenger from New Castle was ejected and pronounced dead at the scene. The tractor trailer driver sustained no injuries.
The Lexus driver, 36-year-old Ashley Wright of Dover, was hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries. After her release, she was arrested and charged with second-degree vehicular homicide, driving under the influence of alcohol, and other traffic offenses.
Wright was arraigned and released after posting a $10,102 cash bond. North Dupont Highway was closed for six hours as the investigation continued.
