FLOYD COUNTY, Ky. (WYMT) – A fatal crash on Kentucky Route 80 resulted in the deaths of two women on Wednesday morning.
According to Kentucky State Police, Kimberly Akers, 35, was operating a 2017 Chevrolet SUV eastbound on Route 80 when her vehicle crossed the median and collided with a westbound 2024 Mazda SUV operated by Andrea Conn, 36.
The collision caused Conn’s vehicle to strike a nearby 2017 Ford van driven by Caleb Sizemore.
Both Akers and Conn were pronounced dead at the scene by the Floyd County Coroner’s Office at approximately 9:15 a.m.
Emergency personnel are still on scene, and the roadway was expected to remain closed for two to three more hours.
Officials are advising drivers to use alternate routes during this time.
The investigation into the crash is ongoing, and further updates will be provided as information becomes available.
