Family mourns as they identify Ogden Canyon crash victim and prepare for farewell.

OGDEN — A 22-year-old woman, critically injured in a motorcycle crash earlier this week near Ogden Canyon, is not expected to survive, according to her family.

Katie Sue Ruth Huggins was involved in the collision on Oct. 27 at approximately 2:45 p.m. at the intersection of Canyon Road and Valley Drive, the Ogden Police Department reported. She was transported to a local hospital where she remains on life support.

According to authorities, Huggins was traveling eastbound on Canyon Road when her motorcycle collided with a vehicle turning from Valley Drive onto westbound Canyon Road. She was wearing a helmet at the time of the crash.

The Box Elder County Sheriff, Kevin Potter, was identified as the driver of the vehicle involved and is currently on voluntary administrative leave while the investigation continues.

The Huggins family released a statement expressing their sorrow and noted that Halloween holds special significance for them as it marks the anniversary of Katie’s adoption. They described her as someone who brought joy and love into their lives.

Amid their grief, the family stated that Katie is an organ donor, allowing her legacy to continue by potentially saving others’ lives.

The family has requested privacy as they navigate this difficult time.
