Family of Channel Nine sports reporter killed in Thailand motorcycle crash suffers another devastating loss.

SHERIDAN, WY – A traffic accident in Sheridan claimed the life of 65-year-old Julie Fitzsimons on Wednesday afternoon.

According to authorities, Fitzsimons was struck by a vehicle near Wyoming Rib & Chop House around 2:41 p.m. She was transported to Sheridan Memorial Hospital, where she succumbed to her injuries.

The driver remained at the scene and is cooperating with local law enforcement; an investigation into the incident is ongoing.

This tragedy comes over a decade after Fitzsimons’ daughter, Nicole, died in a motorcycle collision in Thailand in 2012. Nicole was 24 years old at the time, struck by a speeding driver traveling on the wrong side of the road.

The Fitzsimons family established the Nicole Fitzsimons Foundation to promote travel safety awareness following her death.

In a statement released on social media, the family expressed profound grief, stating, “With broken hearts we share the devastating news that we lost our beautiful mum and the heartbeat of Nicole’s Foundation.” They requested privacy as they navigate this difficult time and promised to share details about a celebration of Julie Fitzsimons’ life later.

A spokesperson for Australia’s Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade confirmed they are aware of Fitzsimons’ death and extended condolences to the family, offering consular assistance if needed.
