A head-on collision on U.S. Highway 50 in Pettis County claimed the lives of a 45-year-old woman and a 58-year-old man on Tuesday night.
The crash occurred west of Monsees Road when a 1998 Chevrolet Silverado, driven by the man from Smithton, crossed into oncoming traffic, striking a 2021 Jeep Wrangler being operated by the woman from Green Ridge. According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol (MSHP), the incident was reported at approximately 11:42 p.m., with both drivers pronounced dead at the scene.
Authorities confirmed that both individuals were wearing seatbelts at the time of the crash. Both vehicles involved were totaled. The MSHP is investigating the incident. No further details regarding additional injuries or vehicle occupants were immediately available.
