(KPEL News) – A collision between a motorcycle and a Jeep Wrangler in Morgan City resulted in one fatality and multiple injuries on December 12, 2023.
According to the Morgan City Police Department, the incident occurred around 7 a.m. at the intersection of Louisiana Highway 70 and Victor II Boulevard.
Authorities reported that the Jeep was traveling south on Louisiana Highway 70 with a yellow flashing arrow for a left turn. It turned onto Victor II Boulevard, colliding with the motorcycle coming from the opposite direction.
The motorcyclist, identified as 42-year-old Gregory Free of Morgan City, was transported to a local hospital, where he later succumbed to his injuries.
The motorcycle’s passenger was thrown from the vehicle and sustained moderate to severe injuries; they were also taken to the hospital.
The Jeep driver suffered moderate injuries and was transported to a hospital out of the area for treatment.
According to authorities, the investigation into the crash is ongoing.
