A motorcycle accident in Mobile, Alabama, has claimed the life of former Columbus Clingstones Executive Chef Matt Martin, who died on Sunday.
Martin, 46, was in the intensive care unit for several days following the accident, as confirmed by Clingstones General Manager Pete Laven. “He was a talented chef, but he also was just a gregarious guy,” Laven said.
According to Laven, Martin significantly enhanced the fan experience at the Clingstones’ ballpark, especially with innovative menu offerings in the Aflac Club and suite areas. “He made an impact immediately, delivering more variety and unique items throughout the stadium,” Laven added.
After leaving Columbus, Martin had been working as a chef in Gulf Shores, Alabama. Funeral arrangements and further details regarding Martin’s obituary have yet to be disclosed.
“Everybody that knew Matt really loved him,” Laven said. “He will truly be missed.”
