Army Specialist Killed in Motorcycle Crash in Bladen County
An Army Specialist from Fort Bragg, Omarion R. Nesmith, 23, died in a motorcycle accident on July 10 in Bladen County, North Carolina.
According to XVIII Airborne Corps spokesman Lt. Col. Jon Daniell, Nesmith collided with a tractor trailer at an intersection while riding off post. He was pronounced dead at the scene by the Bladen County Medical Examiner.
The North Carolina Highway Patrol is investigating the incident. Emergency response details were not disclosed.
Nesmith’s mother, Carla Orozco, has initiated a GoFundMe page to support his memorial expenses, which has raised nearly $4,000 to date.
Orozco highlighted Nesmith’s close community ties and his service, stating, “He leaves behind an amazing family and community that supported his every decision.”
The Army has reported an average of 31 soldier fatalities per year due to motorcycle accidents since fiscal year 2021. This incident marks the 18th motorcycle fatality of fiscal year 2026.
