SPRINGFIELD, IL — A motorcycle crash in Morgan County early on August 8 claimed the life of 43-year-old Jeff Conn of Springfield.
According to the Morgan County Coroner’s Office, Conn was traveling westbound on Old State Road, near Wallbaum Road, when he lost control of his motorcycle around 3 a.m. and crashed into a ditch. Emergency medical personnel arrived at the scene, but Conn was pronounced dead shortly thereafter. The incident is under investigation by local authorities.
In response to the tragedy, Conn’s sister, Cortni Conn, initiated a GoFundMe campaign to assist his daughter, Bella, with funding her college education at the University of Alabama. Bella is currently a junior and the first in the family to attend college. The GoFundMe aims to alleviate financial strain, helping Bella complete her degree without accruing significant debt.
As of Thursday, the campaign has raised $2,470 of its $22,000 goal. Cortni Conn emphasized her brother’s dedication to his daughter’s future, stating that he worked tirelessly to ensure Bella could pursue her dreams without financial obstacles.
Jeff Conn is remembered, according to his obituary, as a hardworking, fun-loving individual with a generous spirit, known for his infectious smile and a knack for uplifting others.
