CALCASIEU PARISH, La. (KPLC) – A 58-year-old Lake Charles man was arrested for vehicular homicide following a fatal crash involving a motorcycle and truck on March 24.
The incident occurred around 8 p.m. at the intersection of La. 397 and Mary Ann Street, according to Louisiana State Police (LSP) Trooper Matt Gaspard.
Trooper Gaspard reported that Joseph Bourque, 26, was riding his motorcycle northbound on La. 397 when Mickal Allison attempted to turn left onto Mary Ann Street from the southbound lane, failing to yield.
Bourque’s motorcycle struck the passenger side of Allison’s truck, resulting in Bourque’s death at the scene. A toxicology sample was taken from Bourque.
Allison was uninjured, but a passenger in his truck sustained serious injuries, according to Gaspard. Authorities reported signs of impairment in Allison, who was arrested at the scene.
His breath sample showed a blood alcohol concentration above the legal limit. Allison was booked into the Calcasieu Parish Correctional Center and faces multiple charges, including:
- Vehicular homicide
- Vehicular negligent injuring
- Failure to yield while turning left
- Operating a vehicle with a suspended license
The investigation remains ongoing. Lane closures were in effect during the response and investigation.
