Multiple Vehicles Involved in Collision on I-95 in Springfield
A multi-vehicle crash occurred on Interstate 95 northbound in Springfield at approximately 3:42 p.m. today, resulting in significant traffic delays.
According to the Virginia State Police, the incident involved four vehicles, including two sedans and two pickup trucks. Emergency services responded quickly to the scene, and three individuals sustained non-life-threatening injuries.
Witnesses reported heavy smoke emanating from one of the pickup trucks, prompting firefighters from the Springfield Fire Department to extinguish the fire. The northbound lanes of I-95 were temporarily closed for approximately an hour for cleanup and investigation.
Traffic was directed to the right shoulder during the lane closure, leading to bottlenecks in the area. Police are conducting an investigation into the cause of the crash.
