JBER Soldier Killed in Motorcycle Crash in Ohio.

MIAMI TOWNSHIP, Ohio — A 22-year-old U.S. Army Alaska paratrooper was killed in a motorcycle crash on June 25.

Sgt. Seth P. Vision of Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson died while participating in a career skills program in Miami Township, according to a release from the U.S. Army. The incident is under investigation by the Athens Police Department and the Army Criminal Investigation Division.

Vision served as an Army cavalry scout with Alpha Troop, 1st Squadron, 40th Cavalry Regiment, 2nd Infantry Brigade Combat Team, 11th Airborne Division. He was originally from Springboro, Ohio, and enlisted in June 2019, completing basic training at Fort Benning, Georgia.

Lt. Col. Jake Hughes, with the 40th Cavalry Regiment, described Vision as a “consummate professional” dedicated to his mission. “Seth’s optimistic approach to life and soldiering was contagious,” Hughes stated. “He will be missed by the entire Denali family.”

Vision received several awards, including the Army Achievement Medal and the Parachutist Badge, as noted in the Army release.

Further updates on the investigation and any additional details regarding the crash will be provided as they become available.
