NEWTON COUNTY, Mo. — A 19-year-old motorcyclist was killed in a crash near Kodiak Rd and Elder Rd on Sunday, June 28, 2026, at approximately 2 p.m.
According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, the rider was traveling west on a 2009 CBR1000RR sports bike when he crossed the center line and collided with the left rear of an eastbound 2010 Ram pickup truck. The driver of the pickup, a 63-year-old man from Diamond, Mo., was not injured.
Emergency responders, including Newton County Deputies, Redings Mill Fire, and Newton County Ambulance, arrived on scene. The motorcyclist was transported to Mercy Joplin, where he was pronounced dead at 3:30 p.m.
Riedigers Towing removed the motorcycle and debris from the crash site. The pickup was able to drive away, despite losing a left-rear taillight assembly.
This incident marks the 61st fatal crash of 2026 for Troop D. The investigation is ongoing, and no further details were available at this time.
