COWLEY COUNTY—One person died in a motorcycle accident just before 9 p.m. Sunday on U.S. 77 Highway at 332nd Road.
According to Cowley County Undersheriff Christina McDonald, a 2000 Dodge Stratus driven by Stephanie Thielen, 34, of Newkirk, Oklahoma, struck a 2004 Harley-Davidson motorcycle operated by Shawn Calhoun, 37, of Arkansas City, Kansas.
Calhoun was pronounced dead at the scene. Emergency responders arrived shortly after the collision, but no further details have been released by the sheriff’s office.
Authorities indicated that an investigation is underway, and lane closures were in effect while crews cleared the scene.
